Expert Talk on Journalism, Photography, and Career Opportunities in Media

The Department of Humanities, JAIN College, V. V. Puram, organised an Expert Talk on “Journalism, Photography, and Career Opportunities in Media” on 31st October. The guest speaker, Mr. Rakesh Nair, an award-winning photojournalist and Associate Photo Editor at Thomson Reuters, shared valuable insights from his fifteen years of experience in the media industry.

Mr. Nair explored both the technical and creative aspects of photography, simplifying concepts such as lenses, aperture, and exposure. He shared his acclaimed photograph “Rest in Peace”, which won the Big Picture Award, and discussed the emotional and ethical dimensions of photojournalism.

Students described the session as inspiring and eye-opening, appreciating how Mr. Nair connected technical detail with meaningful storytelling. The talk broadened their understanding of media as a powerful tool for truth-telling and creativity.
