A prominent BJP leader, Munda served three times as CM. He emphasized infrastructure, industrial development, and tribal welfare. His governments, however, were often unstable due to shifting alliances.
Founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and a key figure in the Jharkhand statehood movement. Soren, known as “Guruji”, became CM three times but could not complete a full term due to political instability. He is remembered more as a statehood leader than as an administrator.
An independent MLA, Koda made history by becoming India’s first independent CM with support from Congress and JMM. His tenure emphasized rural welfare and tribal issues, but later he faced corruption charges.
Son of Shibu Soren, Hemant carried forward the JMM legacy. His government focused on tribal rights, social welfare, and reservations. In his second term, he launched farmers’ schemes, tribal scholarships, and welfare initiatives. He resigned in January 2024 after facing an ED investigation.
The first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand, from BJP. His tenure emphasized industrial policies, investment summits, and urban development. However, his loss in 2019 reflected dissatisfaction among tribal voters.
A senior JMM leader and close aide of Shibu Soren, Champai became CM on 2 February 2024 after Hemant Soren stepped down. Representing Seraikella, he is known as the “Tiger of Kolhan”, focusing on tribal welfare, land rights, and social justice.
